I’m so thrilled to share that my SoHo home was recently featured in Architectural Digest.
My home has always been much more than a place to live. It is where I gather with family and friends, surround myself with art and objects I love, entertain, work, and continue to be inspired by New York City.
The journey to reimagine the apartment began unexpectedly after a burst pipe caused significant damage. What initially felt like a disaster ultimately became an opportunity to look at the space differently and create something new.
Working with my dear friend and extraordinary interior designer Jamie Drake, we brought the apartment back to life with an entirely new energy. Jamie encouraged me to embrace color in ways I never had before, while we also found ways to preserve and reinvent pieces that already had meaning to me.
Sustainability was an important part of the process as well. Rather than simply replacing everything with something new, we incorporated repurposed furnishings and materials, along with art and objects collected throughout my life and my years connected to Parsons.
The result feels joyful, colorful, and deeply personal. Very much like home.
I’m incredibly grateful to Jamie and everyone who helped transform what began as an unexpected challenge into something so special. And a heartfelt thank you to Architectural Digest for telling the story so beautifully.
I hope you enjoy taking a look inside!
XOXO,
Kay Unger
